DCF To Decide Custody Of 7-Year Old Who Survived Deadly Shooting

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The Department of Children and Families is deciding where to place a young boy whose mother was shot to death over the weekend.

Roberto Alfonso, Jr., 55, and Ivy Abigail Torres, 36, and her son were found with gunshot wounds Saturday, July 23rd, inside a home at 3625 N.W. 2nd Street, after several neighbors reported gunfire and called 911.

Torres died inside the duplex. Alfonso Jr. was taken to the hospital where he died. Torres' seven-year-old son survived a bullet in the arm, he's not related to Alfonso.

Police said the shooting was domestic related.

Torres Alfonso died later in the hospital. Law enforcement indicated that he shot Torres and the child, before shooting himself.
