CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – The Coral Gables Police Department says a sketch has led to an arrest of a man who impersonated a law enforcement officer and robbed a security guard.

According to the arrest report, 32-year-old Adam Gil approached a security guard, Nadia Philogene, working in the 4000 block of Aurora Street on July 3.

"He told me, 'I am FBI and I need to see your ID.' And I said, 'No, no,' and he said, 'Stop, I need to see it' and I said, 'I don't have the ID,'" Philogene recalled. "I said, 'If you want my ID, call my supervisor,' and he said, 'I am not going to call anybody and he took my phone and my radio.'"

Philogene then said he grabbed her.

"He put me like this and he tried to open his zipper," she said.

She says Gil exposed himself.

"He exposed himself. This made me feel bad. Have nightmares about this and I feel bad," she said.

Police said the entire crime was captured on surveillance cameras in the area.

Ten days later, Coral Gables police received an anonymous tip of a person at 11701 South Dixie Highway in Pinecrest who fit the description of a suspect involved in the strong armed robbery.

Pincecrest police officers converged on the location and detained Gil.

Investigators conducted a photo lineup and Philogene positively identified Gil.

"We got a call from your viewers and this worked. The community worked with us to get this person off the street," Coral Gables Police Chief Edward Hudak said. "I feel we definitely prevented more serious victimization of someone else and this was a good day for us and a good day for citizens around. This guy could have done something that was worse."

Philogene feels relieved police have arrested Gil and charged him with strong armed robbery, falsely impersonating a police officer, indecent exposure and battery.

But two days after Philogene's security company found out about this incident, she says she was fired.

"They told me they didn't need me for collections and didn't need me to work," she said.

Philogene – who is 28 years old, 3-months pregnant and lives with her mother – feels she was fired because of this incident.

Her company, Universal Protection Service, told CBS4 that she has not lost her job but was instead reassigned.

Gil was given a public defender and is being held on $17,500 bond.
