MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Patrons at George's, a French restaurant in South Miami, closely watched the news out of Nice, France Thursday night following an attack on revelers celebrating Bastille Day.

"It was a happy day for us, but it's very sad today, very sad," said Roxane Delesgues.

The Delesgues family, who lives in Miami, went out to dinner to mark Bastille Day, France's Independence Day. That's when they learned about the attack in Nice, a picturesque place they have been many times.

"This is the place to go in the summer. The Promenade des Anglais is wonderful – and for the 14th of July, this is the place to be," said Delesgues.

George's owner, Georges Farge, said, "Today is a national day of France.  Everybody's out partying, having fun, dancing, watching fireworks."

People CBS4's Oralia Ortega spoke with compare the street where the attack took place to Ocean Drive on South Beach.

They said the attack, which left more than 70 people dead and dozens more injured, is a new level of low and something must be done to keep France safe.

"We do have this kind of attack mainly in France compared to the other countries in Europe and this is unacceptable now. Mr. Hollande has to do something very quickly," said Patrice Delesgues.

"It is a huge problem, especially in my country. I think my government knows that there will be more and more to come," said Farge.
