Paraglider's Terrifying Crash Over Jupiter Beach Caught On Camera

JUPITER (CBSMiami) – A paraglider's terrifying crash above a beach in Jupiter was caught on camera.

On his website, professional skier and kite racer Damien Leroy's passion for the water and air is evident.

He shares his stories of traveling the world – taking part in extreme water sports. He even showcases videos of his dangerous adventures.

But it was close to home, in Jupiter, where Leroy crashed while paragliding above the beach.

All of it captured on video posted to other people's Facebook pages.

You see him gliding through the air and then dangling 150 feet above the ground. His motorized paraglider apparently lost control.

Suddenly, he falls from the sky.

He actually unbuckled himself and was hanging on. He let go at almost the perfect time, because right after he let go, it almost started going back up.

Leroy suffered major injuries, but witnesses say, after seeing the horrific fall, they're just happy he's alive.

Police are still working to determine exactly what went wrong.

In his bio on his website, Leroy says he came to Florida and discovered kite boarding after knee surgeries prevented him from skiing in Alaska and Oregon.

He has since traveled the world as one of the top athletes in the sport.
