Report: Riley Didn't Contact Wade Once In Free Agency, Is 'So Sad' He's Leaving

Bryan Altman

Throughout free agency reports circulated that the face of the Miami Heat franchise for 13 years, Dwyane Wade, felt spurned by the organization over the last several weeks as he was courted by other teams in free agency with significantly better contract offers.

If the latest report from Ethan Skolnick of the Miami Herald is accurate, Wade's complaints may hold some water after all.

While Riley is notoriously cold and calculating when it comes to running the Heat organization, not even reaching out to the team's long-time star player once during the entirety of free agency is pretty shocking.

Especially when you hear Riley said in a text message to the Miami Herald that he's "SADDDDDDD!!!! SO saddddddd!" that Wade is leaving the Heat for the Bulls.

Joining the ranks of those who are disappointed that Wade's leaving was also Heat big man Hassan Whiteside - who signed a max deal for 4 years and $98 million to remain with Miami in free agency last week.

Wade is also taking his exit hard and while he was guest hosting "Live with Kelly" in New York this morning alongside Kelly Ripa (yes, you read that correctly), said he's "still numb" regarding his move to Chicago.

Bryan Altman is, for some reason, an unabashed fan of the Rangers, Jets and Mets. If he absolutely had to pick a basketball team it would be the Knicks, but he'd gladly trade them for just one championship for any of his other three teams.
