Put The News In Newsfeed: How To Still See News With Facebook's New Algorithm

Follow CBSMIAMI.COM: Facebook | Twitter

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Facebook is changing the way you see posts on your news feed by tweaking its algorithm again and that means you may actually see less news on your news feed.

The company announced their new algorithm on June 29th which prioritizes family and friends in your feed.

After friends and family, the company is working with two other main expectations. First, "your feed should inform," whether with stories from current events, celebrity stories, or recipes. Second, "your feed should entertain." It could be viral videos, funny photos or anything they feel won't make your feed boring. Their goal is to keep you engaged with the website and the  app.

But their changes could make it harder to get the news you want from CBSMiami because news agencies won't get top billing.

So what should you do if you're a news junkie and your top priority is to see posts from the CBSMiami Facebook page?

No need to worry. You can still control the Facebook experience and the site will track your activity to create a Newsfeed that suits you. So, for your favorite news sites:

Make sure you like the page:

Click the down arrow next to the "Liked" button and select "See First":

This step will guarantee that new posts from the page will get prioritized in your news feed. You also will be presented with an option to be notified of "Live Videos," allowing you to tune in when the page and related personalities "go live."

If you want to control how you're notified when CBSMiami posts something new, click the small pencil icon next to the word "Notification" and make your choices.

That's it. Now you're done.

Basic interaction with pages, like likes and shares, will also show Facebook that you are particularly interested in a page's content and it will get a bump in how often it shows up in your Newsfeed.
