MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Dozens of law enforcement officers converged on some South Florida waterways Wednesday as part of the never-ending effort to keep us all safe.

The Miami-Dade Police Department and U.S. Customs & Border Protection Air & Marine held full-scale training exercises comprised of several scenarios including a hostile vessel takeover.

Law enforcement from the Coast Guard, National Park Service, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, City of Miami Fire Rescue, Coral Gables Police Department and Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission took part in the training in order to test their ability to merge federal, state, and local maritime resources during a possible mass destructive event.
