Heat Offers Dwyane Wade 2-Year, $40 Million Contract

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – After losing out on the Kevin Durant sweepstakes, Pat Riley and the Miami Heat have turned their attention back to Dwyane Wade.
The Heat has offered Wade a two-year contract worth a total of $40 million, with the second year carrying a player option.
Wade, 34, has received offers from the New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks and Chicago Bulls according to multiple reports.
Miami's biggest move during the offseason has been to re-sign Hassan Whiteside, who decided to remain with the Heat despite receiving interest from several other teams.
Last season Wade's salary was the same $20 million that Miami is offering him again.
That may not be good enough for Wade considering that players at or near his talent and production level are earing higher salaries.
Free agents cannot sign with new teams until Thursday. That is when the NBA's signing moratorium period ends.
Wade is coming off a solid season, averaging 19.0 points on 45.6% shooting, 4.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 0.6 blocks and 1.1 steals in 74 games.
He had an impressive run in the playoffs, averaging 21.4 points on 46.9% shooting while collecting 5.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 0.9 blocks and 0.8 steals.
After an impressive 48-34 regular season, Miami reached a seventh game in the Eastern Conference Semifinals but lost to the Toronto Raptors.
Wade has spent his entire 13-year career with the Heat, helping the team win three NBA championships, and has said that he wants to remain with Miami for the rest of his career.
