MARATHON (CBSMiami) – Two men from Miami were arrested early Sunday morning after being caught putting a credit card skimming device on a gas station pump.

A Monroe County Sheriff's Office sergeant drove past a Valero gas station in Marathon at 3 a.m.

The gas station was closed and the lights were off but a car was parked at the gas pumps.

The sergeant pulled into the station behind the car and noticed that it's license place was bent so it could not be read.

Two men in the car, identified as Alberto Fombellida-Manso and Pavel Morejon-Martinez, were detained while backup officers arrived to investigate the scene.

After examining the gas pumps, it was revealed that one of them had been tampered with.

A credit card skimming device was found installed on one of the pumps, the one closest to where the two men's car was parked.

When they were removed from the patrol car, a second skimming device was found shoved down into the back seat where one of the men had been sitting.

Both men were arrested and charged with using a credit card skimming device to commit fraud and with loitering.  One of the men was also charged with tampering with evidence.
