MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Karma caught up to a suspected hit-and-run driver in Miami.

The initial accident occurred outside of a gas station near N.W. 14th Street and 1st Court.

"I was sitting at the store waiting for my friend to come out," said Derrick Grant, who was parked in his car when he saw a man driving recklessly toward him. "I seen him swerving, coming up behind me. I thought he was gonna park behind me, but he hit me and kept going."

Grant then got back in his car and followed after the man, saying he was about a half a mile behind. But the chase didn't last long.

"He was trying to get away. By the time we got to 7th, he had disappeared. That's when we seen a cloud of dust and stuff," Grant said. "By the time we got here, he'd done flipped his car."

The suspect's car was discovered crashed off the side of the road, near 7th Court, resting upside down. Glass was shattered on the street and several tree branches were scattered around the area.

Miami Fire Rescue removed the driver and took him to the hospital.

Grant was not hurt. His vehicle received minor damage to his back bumper.
