MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A man was left in critical condition after he was shot in Little Havana and police are now asking for the community's help to find the gunman.

It happened Sunday, July 3rd, around 5:00 a.m. at 800 N.W. 15th Avenue.

"I heard what sounded like a loud bang and I got up," said Jackie Kurzban, who lives nearby. "I took a look outside, thinking they broke into one of my cars or something. And somewhere between 15 and 20-something seconds later, I heard a second bang."

She said she's noticed an increase in crime in her area lately.

"Ever since they built the Marlins stadium, our crime rates have gone up in this neighborhood," said Kurzban.

The victim was shot in the torso and was rushed to the trauma center.

Miami-Dade Police said the shooting was not a robbery.

They're asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS. Tipsters can remain anonymous and there is a cash reward for info that leads to an arrest.
