Reilly Smith, Panthers Agree To Five-Year Extension

SUNRISE (CBSMiami) – The Florida Panthers are having perhaps the best offseason in franchise history, which is appropriate considering the team just had its most successful season ever.
The Panthers announced their latest move on Sunday, extending the contract of forward Reilly Smith for another five years.
This keeps Smith under contract with Florida through the 2021-22 season.
"Reilly was a key player for our team last season," said Panthers general manager Tom Rowe. "He is a valuable contributor to our offense and special teams and is an important part of our talented group of forwards."
Smith, 25, had 50 points (25g 25a) in 82 games for Florida last season. He was one of just two Panthers to play in all 82 regular season games.
He also led the team in goals, assists and points (4-4-8) during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Smith was acquired last offseason from the Boston Bruins, along with the contract of Marc Savard, for forward Jimmy Hayes.
