MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A hot, humid holiday weekend is ahead for South Florida with a better chance of storms to kick off the month of July.

It's a warm, muggy start Friday with low to mid 80s already. Scattered showers soaked portions of South Florida throughout the morning with a few heavy downpours.

Highs are expected to soar to around 90 in the afternoon and it will feel like the triple-digits due to high humidity.

More storms are very likely throughout the rest of the day with the potential for lightning, heavy rain and localized flooding.

As for Friday night, lows are expected to fall to the upper 70s with storms around overnight. The rain chance remains high throughout the day and Saturday due to plenty of tropical moisture and a Southerly wind flow in place.

Make sure to keep your umbrellas close by.

Sunday going into Monday, the rain chance will decrease slightly and we'll see a mix of sunshine and mostly morning showers and a few afternoon storms.

There will be a high pressure with breezy conditions and highs in the low 90s on Independence Day.
