MIAMI (CBSMiami) – There's a new summer thriller that might scare you away from the beach.

"You never have a moment you can relax in this film from the time she was attacked by the shark," explained 'The Shallows' star Blake Lively.

Blake Lively opened up about shooting what might be the most terrifying movie of the summer.

In 'The Shallows', Lively plays Nancy Adams, a med student who is seeking solace after the death of her mother and finds peace on a surfboard. That is, until she unknowingly ends up on the feeding ground of a great white shark.

"It's non-stop she because from the minute she gets bitten, she gets a chance to absorb where she is. It plays to all the elements of sun, saltwater, dehydration; she's losing blood, not eating. There's a lot against her survival," Lively said.

The 28-year-old actress shot most of the film without the help of a stunt double.

"They didn't hire a stunt double until the last 2 weeks of shooting, so there wasn't a single scene that wasn't stunt heavy," she explained. The film's primary location was a small island off of Sydney, Australia.

In the film, a rock is the only thing that stands between her and the great white shark.

Lively spent days on that rock alone quite far from the film crew.

"I'm 300 yards away from shore. They would drop me off on a rock 3 feet by 3 feet because the helicopter shots you couldn't see anyone around me. So that was intimidating," she recalled.

A shark attack certainly is on almost everyone's most feared lists, but Lively's view is the shark is not a demon at all. It's just a wild animal trying to survive in its natural habitat.

"It's really so primal. We are two apex predators, a human and a shark, both fighting to survive and both justly fighting to survive, "she said.

Blake Lively is currently pregnant with baby no. 2 with her husband Ryan Reynolds.

'The Shallows' is rated PG and is out in theatres now.
