ORLANDO (CBSMiami/AP) — An Orlando woman who police say abandoned her missing newborn baby has been sentenced to a year in jail.

Susan Richardson was sentenced Monday in Orange County on a charge of child neglect and child neglect-unlawful desertion.

Richardson was arrested four months ago following the disappearance of her newborn. Police say someone reported finding placenta and after-birth in the parking lot of the Willow Bend Apartments on February 15th.

Detectives concluded that a full-term baby had been born, but there was no sign of the infant.

Richardson said that she left the baby on the doorstep at an apartment complex, but police were unable to find the child after searching the neighborhood.

Richardson will receive credit for time served.
