Swedish Art Student Shot In Wynwood Armed Robbery Discharged From Hospital

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Swedish art student shot in an armed robbery while walking in Wynwood has been discharged from the hospital.
"For every single day, I understood better and better how lucky I was that both of the bullets literally missed everything."
Frank Hammar, a Swedish student at the Miami Ad School, was walking home after dinner when two men approached him near NW 2nd Ave. and 26th St. on Tuesday, June 7th.
Surveillance video captured one of the men pull out a small handgun.
They demanded his wallet and he refused.
"The other guys said something like blast him or pop him. The guy with the gun fired two bullets," Hammar recalled.
The 28 year old was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in critical but stable condition.
Hammar missed his graduation, but his parents came from Sweden to be with him.
They accepted his diploma and he delivered his fellow students a recorded message.
"I just want to tell you all that I am 100 percent fine. Everything is going to be all right," he said.
But not "so all right" as it was touch and go in the hospital, at one point battling an infection.
He battled and pulled through, finally being discharged Friday.
Hammar still carries a bullet near his spine.
"Right now we are relieved, destress and relax. Go to the beach and try to catch up. Two horrible weeks come to an end," said Peter Hammar, Frank's brother.
Frank says he is getting his art portfolio together and looking for a job.
He thanks everyone for the wonderful care and concern.
