TWITTERSPHERE (CBSMiami) -- Don't let the myth and stigma fool you -- hackers can often be the good guys, imbued with a greater sense of justice than your typical keyboard warrior.
In 2013, the hacker group Anonymous helped expose the rape of a 16-year-old teenager in Steubenville, Ohio. Earlier this year, hackers shut down a Ku Klux Klan website and took over the klan's Twitter account following threats in the wake of the Ferguson, Missouri protests in 2014.
Around the world, these cyber sleuths have uncovered corruption and abuse, found flaws in security, and often act with a 'Robin Hood' sense of purpose with the general public at heart.
They're also known for their peculiar sense of humor.
After the mass shooting in Orlando, hacker hijinks ensued as one by one, Twitter accounts supporting ISIS were hacked with gay pornography links, replacing the accounts' jihadist images with colorful rainbows and gay pride flags.

Many of the accounts @WauchulaGhost got into have already been removed or suspended by Twitter. However, the hacker did us a favor and took pictures of many of the accounts he or she victimized.
Messages included "I am gay" and "Gay and Proud," and added pro-gay hashtags to the tweets.
