MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A woman who left her six year old daughter in their burning apartment will not be going to prison.

On Thursday, 33-year year old Erica Rosello pleaded guilty to child neglect. In return, she received a sentence of 30 months probation geared toward substance abusers.

As part of the plea deal, Rosello will have to wear a bracelet that alerts authorities if she drinks alcohol.

Rosello was outside of her apartment, at the Versailles Gardens Condominiums on Flagler Street and 94th Avenue, when a fire broke out last February. She reportedly made no attempt to save her daughter because she thought she was dead and couldn't hear her screaming for help.

Neighbors called 911 when they saw smoke pouring out of Rosello's first floor.

When they arrived, neighbors told them they heard a child's cries coming from inside Rosello's unit.

Miami-Dade Firefighter David Arrencibia saw Grace inside, smashed the bedroom window and pulled the unconscious girl out. She was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

A judge gave temporary custody of her to her grandmother. For now, Rosello has only supervised visits Grace, although she hopes to eventually be reunited with her.

If Rosello completes the 30 month sentence successfully, she will not be considered at convicted felon. If she violates the terms of her probation, she could face up to five years in state prison.
