HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) - A Hollywood woman is accused of trying to kill the man she provides care for.

On Monday, Lori Lynn Babb, 50, made her first appearance in court. She's charged with attempted murder and abusing a disabled person.

Over the weekend, Babb reportedly went into the bedroom of the man she takes care of and accused him of punching her dog.

The man, who has mobility issues because of partial foot amputation and suffers from strokes, told police Babb punched and bit him as he lay in bed.

He said at one point she grabbed a knife and tried to stab him on the right side of his chest saying "I'm going to kill you." The knife handle broke, so she reportedly tossed it away.

Babb then managed to push the man off the bed and proceeded to stomp and kick him, according to her arrest report.

She then reportedly tried to drag him out of the apartment but didn't get very far and gave up.

The man was able to call someone who alerted the police.

After she briefly barricaded herself in the residence, police went in and arrested her.

"She acted in a heinous manner," said Hollywood Police Officer Meredith Elrich. "We're fortunate that the police were able to respond and  take this individual into custody."

Babb is being held with no bond.
