The Latest: Tropical Storm Colin Forms In Gulf Of Mexico

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — The National Hurricane Center has announced that Tropical Storm Colin has formed in the Gulf of Mexico and is predicted to land in Florida.
Forecasters upgraded the storm from a tropical depression to a tropical storm just before 6 p.m. Sunday.
It was moving northward toward Florida, about 456 miles southwest of Tampa, at a speed of 15 mph (24 kph) with wind speeds of 39 mph (62 kph) and was expected to pick up the pace later Sunday.
The storm is expected to dump flooding rains along the Gulf coast when it hits on Monday before quickly passing through to the Atlantic.
