MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- In a convoy of unmarked, heavily-tinted cars, Nouman Raja left the Palm Beach County Jail with a court-ordered GPS tracking device strapped to his ankle.

Raja spent the past 48 hours in a cell by himself as a security measure since being charged with manslaughter and attempted first degree murder in the shooting death of Corey Jones, whose car had broken down along I-95 early on the morning of October 18, 2015.

"He should be held to the highest standard of the law. He's a officer. He shouldn't be killing nobody. I got to say my brother got murdered from a cop. My kids is afraid of the police," said Corey's brother, C.J. Jones.

Investigators said Jones was armed with a gun but never fired a shot. They also said Raja did not identify himself as a police officer before firing his gun six times.

Audio from Jones' cellphone, while talking to roadside assistance, captured the confrontation, giving the investigation a little more insight into what happened.

"If you've never been in a gun battle or in a gun fight, your adrenaline is pumping," said John Kazanjian of the Palm Beach Police Benevolent Association. "And he's still yelling and screaming. I'm telling you, if you haven't been in a gun fight, it's hard to judge."

Raja was released on a $250,000 bond. The judge ordered no contact with any member of the Corey Jones family or with the Palm Beach Gardens Police Dept.

Raja was also ordered to give up his passport.
