MIAMI (CBSMiami) —  A Miami-Dade teen has died after he was shot multiple times overnight in Miami Gardens.

Around 12:45 a.m., police were sent to 18000 NW 7th Place after receiving reports of gunfire.

When officers arrived, they found 16-year old Joshua Cadet who was bleeding from several gunshot wounds.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took Cadet to Hollywood Memorial Hospital in critical condition. He later died from his injuries.

His relatives showed up at the home Friday morning where Cadet was reportedly visiting a friend at the time of the shooting.

Miami Gardens Police drove by a few times throughout the morning and left behind one of their armored trucks.

Meantime, local officials are calling for an end to youth violence.

Miami-Dade Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho was outraged and saddened when he heard what had happened to Cadet - a student at a Miami Dade high school.
