MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Miami Police said a man was stabbed in Alapattah Monday and the motive was revenge.

According to Miami Police, a man thought he spotted a man who he said shot him a month ago in the leg.

That's when he decided to follow him to 36th Street and 18th Avenue where he, according to investigators, got out of the car with a bat and smashed the man's car window.

In response, the man took off running prompting the man with the bat to chase after him.

At some point, the man caught up to the other man he believed shot him a month before and presumably as a form of revenge stabbed him in the back with a piece of the broken car window, police said. Sometime during the struggle, the chaser got his arm slashed.

Chopper4 was over the scene located at NW 19th Avenue and NW 35th Street around noon where rescue crews and police could be seen.

Crews rushed both men to Jackson Memorial Hospital. The man who was stabbed was in critical condition while the other man had non-life threatening injuries.

It is unclear if charges will be filed.
