MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) -- Whether it's luxurious lighting, funky furniture, elegant rugs or anything creative or fun you can think of to put in a home, hotel or office space, the global showcase of interior design called Maison & Objet, (for trade only) set up shop at The Miami Beach Convention Center.

"We try to gather everything in hospitality and for the home. From rugs to furniture , lighting to fabrics to tableware. It's a paradise for people who are decorating their homes," said Phillipe Brocart, the Director of Maison and Objet.

Javier Gomez, a photographer from New York is one of the emerging artists in the showcase. His specially designed pieces are eye catching and evidently so is he!

"I hear you made a special list on People Magazine?" asked CBS4's Lisa Petrillo. "Yes, I was named 'Sexiest Artist Alive.' It was incredible, pretty amazing," said Gomez.

His mandalas are actually 12 repeated shots of the same picture resulting in beautiful, floral lucite tables.

"I wanted to represent  the cycle of life  with these flowers and take it out of the frame and into the furniture," he said.

Local interior designer Sam Robin who designed the interiors for Bianca , the restaurant at The Delano, among many other places, is happy to be back this year.

"I'm thrilled  to be here. Last year was the first year and it was small. This year it's so much bigger and better and more people get to see our work," said Robin.

There are many satellite "pop-up" spots  happening all over town this weekend including Wynwood, The Miami Design District and more. One pop-up called Neon Jungle - located at 160 NE 40th Street - is an immersive tropical jungle created by this year's M&O Designer of the Year, Rafael  de Cardenas.
