MIAMI (CBSMiami) – All this month, Taste of the Town has a twist! CBS4's Lisa Petrillo is dining out with one of our own who showed her his favorite South Miami spot.

Petrillo headed over with anchor Eliott Rodriguez to his favorite neighborhood spot – George's on Sunset.

Rodriguez says he has a lot of reasons why he loves George's on Sunset as his neighborhood go-to spot.

"To me, it's all about George! He makes you feel at home like a friend and that he's going to take care of you. Sometimes, I don't even look at the menu. I leave it up to him," said Rodriguez.

George likes to get up close and personal with his customers.

"What I like to do is greet people, make people feel like home and when I do a new dish, I want my good people to try it and give me feedback. This is what I like to do," said George.

"To be honest, I come here for one special drink that George's bartenders make for me. It's called "An Old Cuban…it took me a while to get used to the name but once I did, I fell in love," said Rodriguez.

His "Old Cuban" is made of Bacardi bitters, fresh mint and lime juice

"Now, I feel like a young Cuban," said Rodriguez.

George's is an open air space complete with a disco ball smack in the center.

"I wanted to do a concept, all open disco ball party, to me so people can have a nice dinner then enjoy music and craziness and have fun," said George.

Petrillo and Rodriguez experienced that while their dessert was served up.

"We celebrate everything from divorce, lawsuits, plastic surgery you name it - everything you're ready for a celebration," said George.

After the party, it was time to put George's main dishes to the test.

A favorite of Rodriguez's in the French-influenced menu is the beet salad with goat cheese and arugula.

"So the combo of the sweet of the beets and the tang of the cheese blends perfectly with flavor," said Rodriguez.

Next up was the jumbo grilled prawns that put you somewhere on the coast of France.

"I feel like it's charred perfectly, tons of flavor and moist as well," said Rodriguez.

The seafood risotto was warm and inviting like comfort food.

Lastly was the disco dessert where diners can dance while being served a Nutella pizza with whipped cream.

George's on Sunset is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Let's not forget brunch on the weekend. There's also karaoke Thursday nights!
