CBS4 Catches Up With Newly Signed Dolphins QB Brandon Doughty

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Brandon Doughty is coming home. The former North Broward Prep quarterback gets to enjoy his old stomping grounds thanks to the Miami Dolphins using one of their final draft picks on the signal caller.
CBS4's Mike Cugno recently caught up with the hometown quarterback as he was reuniting with his barber and childhood friend Anthony Moon.
"What's up baby?" Doughty shouts as he walks into The Barbers Studio inside the Bella Salon Suites in Coral Springs.
"He started cutting hair when he was younger. He actually learned on YouTube and we use to cut it outside the trailer park. He was kind of nervous in the beginning because he had never cut hair before, but now that's my guy."
His barber isn't the only familiar face. Dolphins' legend Dan Marino was a mentor to Doughty in high school and the two have since reconnected during the draft process.
"Dan Marino got on the phone he was like Brandon work your butt off and continue to work to continue to better your game. That's what I have to do. That's the approach I'm coming into. I know I have to be faster, I have to be quicker, I have to make reads even faster than I do now."
Learning from a hall of famer comes with its own set of pressure for the first quarterback drafted by Miami since Ryan Tannehill in 2012.
''To me it's a pressure I like to have. I have really high expectations of myself. I get to play with a little chip on my shoulder because I was the last quarterback taken so I definitely, definitely want to come in there and compete right away."
Making the cut is one thing, but surviving some of the rookie hazing will be another. Around Dolphins Camp, that means a new "look" for all the rookies and their precious hairdos because the Fins are notorious for giving their rookies horrible haircuts and ridiculous dye jobs. "They're going to get me," said a worried Doughty.
