NEW YORK, N.Y. (CBSMiami) -- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has set social media into a fervor following a tweet he sent out about Cinco de Mayo that many consider to have racist connotations.
It came on the 5th of May, a day Americans like to think of as an official Mexican holiday. Although, ask our neighbors south of the border and it might surprise you how little they care about it.
In an attempt to pander to a crowd that has all but refused to vote for him, Trump announced his love for the Hispanic community -- and to prove it, he had a taco bowl for lunch at his New York office.
Happy #CincoDeMayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics! https://t.co/ufoTeQd8yA pic.twitter.com/k01Mc6CuDI

The tweet obviously exploded across the internet with users likening the comparison to eating pizza in an attempt to win over Italians or [insert ethnic stereotype here].
Hillary Clinton chimed in, as well.
