MARIANA TRENCH (CBSMiami) -- Stunning images of a species yet undiscovered have been released during a deep water exploration of the Mariana Trench.

It doesn't have an official species identification yet but the multi-tentacled creature is related to the jellyfish and was found 3,700 meters underwater while divers explored a region known as the Enigma Seamount.

Scientists with NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration and Research said this hydromedusa belongs to the genus Crossota, but while it looks similar to other species previously known, this one is new.

"Note the two sets of tentacles — short and long. At the beginning of the video, you'll see that the long tentacles are even and extended outward and the bell is motionless. This suggests an ambush predation mode," said the NOAA. "Within the bell, the radial canals in red are connecting points for what looks like the gonads in bright yellow."

The exploration team said their remotely-operated vehicle is equipped with high-powered LED lights, allowing it to capture the breathtakingly clear video at such underwater depths.

You can follow along with their progress through their live stream video.
