PEMBROKE PINES (CBSMiami) -- Police in Pembroke Pines are searching for a group of criminals responsible for an overnight rampage in Broward County.

The crooks hit neighborhood after neighborhood and car after car, smashing windows and grabbing whatever they could find.

"I feel sick!" said victim Tim Neeley. "I feel absolutely sick. I don't know what to say. I'm depressed, I feel like someone sucker punched me."

Overnight and early into the morning hours Friday, about 60 cars were hit by thieves.  It appears whoever is responsible simply walked up, smashed windows and then rummaged around inside.

"I got my social taken," said Lily Martinez,  "I got my ID taken, my credit card, two seasonal passes for Busch Gardens.  I'm just very upset."

It happened in several communities in the central Pines area around Pine Blvd. and Hiatus. In each case it doesn't seem as though the thieves were looking for anything in particular.

"They stole some checks, they stole pretty much what ever was in there," said Quenessa Hester as she stood outside her car with a broken window.  "It's ridiculous, we work too hard for our money.  Period.  We work too hard."

In some cars, nothing at all was taken, instead windows were broken leaving shattered glass and an inconvenient mess behind.   Also left behind was evidence.  In several cars the crooks cut themselves, leaving blood drops, DNA behind.  It's a present for detectives hoping to solve the case.

Investigators told CBS4's Ted Scouten they're following several strong leads.
