MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Getting a new pet is a wonderful and happy experience for people around the world.

One of the best parts of welcoming a pet into the home is picking out a name for a new little guy (or girl).

Rover.com, which is the largest network of dog and cat sitters and walkers in the United States, has searched through its database to determine the top cat names that owners bestow upon their feline friends.

One thing that was found is that owners tend to give human names to their kitties more than others.

For male cats, the top five names are Oliver, Leo, Charlie, Milo and Max.

As for the lady felines, the top five names are Luna, Chloe, Bella, Lucy and Lily.

Interestingly, from 2014 to 2015 there has been nearly a 22% increase in cats being given human names, with nearly half of names given in 2015 being human.

After human names, top choices for potential name categories include food, animals and nature themes.

Food names include Olive, Ginger and Oreo while animal names used are Tiger, Panda, Teddy and Monkey.

Another interesting tidbit is that contrary to popular belief, cat owners are not cat-only people.  According to Rover, 45% of cat owners also own a dog.
