Teacher, Law Enforcement Jobs At Miami Lakes Mega-Career Fair

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - If you're looking for a career in teaching or law enforcement, you may have your chance next Tuesday.

Those positions will be among those offered at a career fair at Don Shula's Hotel in Miami Lakes at 6842 Main Street. Representatives from three dozen top companies will be their to fill more than 2,000 positions.

The April 19th event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Those interested in a law enforcement position will be able to talk with officers with the Broward Sheriff's Office which has openings for certified deputies, law enforcement cadets and detention cadets.

Kent Security will also be recruiting for front desk concierge, security guards and gatehouse security guards.

Troops to Teachers will be interviewing for public school teachers for grades K-12.

El Dorado Furniture will be conducting on the spot interviews for showroom sales associates, customer service representatives, cashiers, receptionists and material handlers.

Amerijet International, Inc will be hiring for cargo handlers, cargo palletizers, import agents, temperature control and specialties managers.

USA Parking Systems will be recruiting for valets, dispatchers, ramp supervisors and garage attendants.

FirstService Residential will be conducting interviews for Community association managers, administrative assistants, maintenance, painters, janitors, landscapers, front desk, security, pool/spa and sales.

N Square will be interviewing for residential project consultants and production crew.

CGI, Windows & Doors will be at the event hiring shop laborers, maintenance engineers and customer service representatives.

If you plan to attend, here are some tips to get you ready.

Dress your absolute best. This doesn't mean you have to go out and purchase an expensive outfit, just dress clean cut and professional. Also, update your resume and bring at least 25 copies with you.

It's a good idea to do a little research in advance. Pick a few companies from the list and learn more about them online. The more you know about the company, the more you can converse with them at the event.

Make sure you visit every employer at the event and tell them what type of career you are interested in. If they do not have it available, they might be able to refer you to a company that does

If you have kids, make sure you arrange for a baby sitter. No children will be allowed into the event.

No cell phones will be allowed inside the Career Fair room. And finally, this is South Florida, you may want to bring an umbrella.
