MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami/AP) — After a man was arrested in the slaying of his ex-roommate at the condo they once shared, Miami Beach Police said he disabled the recording devices in the interview room and declined to give a statement.

Jonathan Alexander Alonso, 30, was held without bond Saturday on a first-degree murder charge.

Police say a co-worker asked the building's managers to check on Louis Piper. According to an affidavit, Alonso stopped them from entering Piper's condo, then rushed past them in the lobby.

Police found Piper's body. An autopsy determined that Piper died from stab wounds to his head and neck.

The affidavit says Alonso had Piper's credit cards and wounds on both hands when police arrested him Friday.

Miami-Dade County jail records didn't show whether Alonso had an attorney.

Court records show Piper had Alonso evicted from the South Beach condo in October.
