Sign Up For A Fleet Week Tour Beginning Friday

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Ft. Lauderdale's annual Fleet Week is about a month away and those who would like tour one of the visiting U.S. Navy ships will have to act fast to reserve a spot.

The reservation period will open at 8 a.m. on Friday at browardnavydaysinc.org. and run through April 18th. Spots usually fill up quickly and you can expect reservations for the visiting submarine to be filled up by the end of the weekend.

This year Fleet Week at Port Everglades runs from May 2nd through May 9th.

The USS Bataan amphibious assault ship, the destroyers USS Farragut and USS Cole, and Coast Guard cutters Robert Yered and Dependable will be at the port this year, according to the Sun-Sentinel. The name of the visiting sub has not been released for security reason.

If you sign up to take a tour, you will have to undergo a background check required by Port Everglades security. When making reservations, you'll have to provide not only your name and date of birth but also your place of birth and last four digits of your Social Security number.
