'Life Coach' Charged With Sexual Battery

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - A 'life coach' is accused of having sex with a mentally disabled woman he cared for.

Michael Bellamy, 56, is the owner of Lauderhill-based Opulent Living. The company is contracted by the state to provide services to people with disabilities.

In June 2014, the woman told Plantatoin police investigators that Bellamy had forced her to have sex with him over a period of two to three months. She said she feared for her life.

Bellamy, is scheduled to go before a judge on Thursday, is charged with sexual battery.

The state's Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) issued the following statement.

"APD has initiated an investigation to ensure all proper procedures were followed. If anyone did not live up to our incredibly high standards, they will be held fully accountable."
