MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Shailene Woodley is back in action in the third installment of the blockbuster "Divergent" series franchise: "Allegiant."

This time around "Tris," played by Woodley and "Four," played by Theo James, head  into a  whole new world, far more dangerous than ever before – leaving  the only city they have ever known.

Woodley said that big change made things even more exciting all around.

"It was exciting for us to film because, first and foremost, every day for at the last two years we've gone to the same set. Now we have a new set, there are new actors involved and this new movie, four new characters are introduced. The wardrobe was different, the aesthetic too, so everything felt fresh, foreign and exciting," Woodley said.

These days, Woodley was sporting a new brunette shoulder-length hair style for her upcoming role in the TV series "Big Little Lies."

The 24-year-old actress told CBS4's Lisa Petrillo that working with James for these past three films just gets better and better.

The chemistry and connection they have on screen comes from the fact they have similar views, she says, on the entertainment industry itself – which is not taking the fame part all too seriously.

"We're really both focused on the artistic value of being an actor and so because of that it lends to instant comfortability and so we've gained more trust of one another and have more openness, so that's fueled a good relationship," she said.

Woodley said if you're a fan of the books, there are just enough similarities and differences to make this action packed "Allegiant" something fun to watch.

"This film is different than the book which I think the people will admire and like. There's also a lot of similarities, but a lot of ideas that our director put in there which is fun and exciting. It keeps it surprising and new," Woodley said.

The cast will be back in action to shoot the fourth and final installment of the series later this year. "Allegiant" is now in theaters.
