MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A tiny white casket rested in front of hundreds of mourners saying goodbye to 6-year-old King Carter.

Adults dressed as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles -- King's favorite cartoon characters -- were part of the procession, led by his parents.

A crown, rested on a pillow, was placed on King's head before the casket was closed.

Family and friends laid the boy to rest on Saturday afternoon at the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Miami.

"Thank God for the outpouring from the community. We have had suspects turn themselves in. We have been able to catch others," said Rev. Gaston Smith.

Two teens were charged in the child's death earlier in the week. A third, Tamar Teems, 16, turned himself in early Friday morning.

Investigators said Teems admitted that he was in the car with Leonard Adams, 18, and Irwen Pressley, 17, at the time of the shooting.

Police said they went to the Miami apartment complex to kill someone named JuJu after an argument on social media. During the gun fight, King was hit and killed, instead.

On Saturday, the focus was not on the suspects but on a little boy whose life was cut short by violence too often seen in south Florida's streets.

"Just heart-breaking. Stop the violence. These kids. So sad, so sad," said a mourner.
