Scientists Release New Image Of The Milky Way

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Scientists have released a new image of the Milky Way.

The image was posted Wednesday to mark the completion of a survey of the APEX Telescope Large Area Survey of the Galaxy.

The telescope which is in Chile has mapped the Galactic plane that is visible from the southern hemisphere.

This allows astronomers to study what is called the cold universe which is gas and dust that is only a few tens of degrees above absolute zero.
