CORAL SPRINGS (CBSMiami) – A three-hour standoff between Coral Springs police and an elderly man has come to an end.

According to Coral Springs Sgt. Carla Kmiotek, police received a call Monday afternoon from family members of 71-year-old Richard Euler who they said was distraught and armed.

Authorities tried negotiating with him to come out of the home at 84th Drive and 14th Ct. but he reportedly refused.

As protocol, SWAT was called out to the scene.

Police said Euler fired multiple shots at officers through a door.

After a three-hour standoff, Euler was shot in the hand after he allegedly pointed the gun at officers through a bedroom window.

Euler was taken to the hospital alert and conscious.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

Euler will be facing multiple criminal charges.
