Avoiding Fashion Fails On Facebook

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - You see the ads for cheap clothes all over Facebook from companies Rose Gal, She In, TB Dress and Nasty Dress.
The clothes look great in the ads, but what do you really get when you order from those overseas companies?
Thousands of complaints about poor quality, shipping times and customer service had us asking questions.
Abby Misegades usually writes about kid stuff for a blog, unless she finds a good deal.
"I'm all about finding good bargains and cute clothes," said Misegades.
Misegades said an ad for the company Rose Gal caught her eye while scrolling through her Facebook feed.
"Obviously the price is right and the clothes looked really cute," said Misegades.
The mom of two ordered a cream and black aztec sweater for $23 last October.
"When I opened it, this really rank smell came out of the bag, like mildew or food," said Misegades.
She said the open shrug was sewn together in the front with black thread, it was too short, too tight and took a month to arrive.
"I won't be ordering again," said Misegades.
There are thousands of similar complaints on Sitejabber about Rose Gal and other heavy Facebook advertisers. The overseas companies are accused of using fake pictures, misleading customers about shipping times and not giving refunds unless reviewers take down negative posts.
There are Facebook pages dedicated to posting what customers ordered from the companies and what actually came.
Cristin Severance from out sister station in Dallas ordered items from four sites that advertise all over Facebook.
What was ordered:
$13 black shirt and $16 jacket from Rose Gal.
$23 yellow dress from She In.
$25 red wool coat from Nasty Dress.
$20 fancy black dress from TB Dress.
What actually arrived:
The black shirt from Rose Gal was shorter and tighter than the picture.
The black leather jacket also from Rose Gal looked plastic and the collar didn't stay up as advertised in the picture.
The red wool coat from Nasty Dress was falling apart, nearly ripped when I tried it on, the sleeves were too short and a part of the coat weren't sewn on.
The yellow dress from She In was too short and too tight and the color was slightly off. We paid for one dress but were sent two identical dresses.
The black dress from TBDress never arrived and the company did not respond to our inquiry on where the item was.
Misegades said from now on she's sticking with stores where she can see and smell the clothes before she buys them.
"Won't be going down that road again," said Misegades.
As for the ads, Facebook put out the following statement.
"Facebook prohibits advertisements that are deceptive, false, or misleading, including deceptive claims, offers, or business practices. We are investigating these claims and if we discover violations we will take appropriate action."
None of the clothing companies returned requests for a comment on the quality of the clothes, false advertising or poor customer service claims.
