Trump Holds Campaign Rally In Tampa

TAMPA (CBSMiami) – A feisty Tampa Bay crowd made it clear who they were there for Friday evening.

"We want Trump, we want Trump!"

Before a packed house, Donald Trump delivered to loyal followers the message they want to hear.

If he becomes president, the border wall is going up.

"So I get a call from one of the reporters yesterday, and they said the president of Mexico said they will not under any circumstances pay for the wall. They said, 'What is your comment?'  I said, 'The wall just got 10 feet higher.' Cheer, it's true," he told the crowd.

So many followers showed up to the rally, there wasn't enough room in the Sundome at the University of South Florida.

"We waited two hours with my high heels and now the door closed and nobody can get in," Trump supporter Yu Zhang told CBS4's Ted Scouten.

Those stuck on the outside had some company.

"Dump Trump, dump Trump, dump Trump," protesters chanted.

"Dump Trump! He's a racist, homophobic, sexist, anti-immigrant. He's everything I do not stand for, and this nation was not meant to be built on," said protester Reign Hervey.

Many who came have their minds made up already.

"He's amazing. I'm Cuban and I'm voting for Trump," said Christina Fiallo.

Others came for a show.

"He's very entertaining, but yeah, I'm never going to vote for him," said Democrat Matt Berry.

And it wouldn't be a Trump rally without a few jabs at his competitors.

"Jeb! He's asleep at the wheel," he said. "In his own way he's a vicious guy, 'cause he's a gutless guy."

He followed that up by calling out Bernie Sanders.

"I'd also love to run against the communist. We're going to have a communist against an entrepreneur. I like the entrepreneur right?" Trump said to huge cheers.
