MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) -- Half a dozen bullet holes remained on the front wall of a Miami Gardens home Friday.

One woman said several people were home when the bullets hit the wall. Luckily, no one was hurt.

"I've heard gunshots before but not this close," said Clinton Carvy who lives blocks away from where the shots were fired.

Police said they got a call about shots being fired at around 11 a.m. at Northwest 190th Street and 39th Court. Once they arrived, they found several spent casings on the ground.

"Being that my mom was outside gardening, I was worried," said Carvy.

A safety perimeter had been set up around the area while officers searched for a person in connection to the shooting. They said the gunman or gunmen got away in a dark-colored vehicle.

Following the shooting a number of schools were placed on lockdown in the area but later lifted at Carol City Elementary, Carol City Middle School and Barbara Hopkins Elementary.

The shooting comes on the heels of two school shootings - one at Miami Carol City Senior High School in Miami Gardens and the other at Frances S. Tucker Elementary School in Coconut Grove.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471- TIPS.
