Bush & Rubio Fall Short, Battle For Third In New Hampshire Primary

MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBSMiami/AP) – Nearly every political pundit predicted a Donald Trump New Hampshire primary victory – and he did it. This left Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and former Sunshine State Gov. Jeb Bush working hard to secure that second place vote – and they fell short.
All the projections have Ohio Gov. John Kasich walking away with the silver medal.
But Bush's campaign doesn't think much of rival Kasich's showing in New Hampshire's Republican presidential primary.
Bush spokesman Tim Miller says Kasich "ran a one-state campaign" in New Hampshire and doesn't have "a viable path" to the nomination.
The next Republican contest is in South Carolina later in February, and Miller says the Bush campaign feels "very confident about our position" in the state.
Miller contends that the former congressman "doesn't have a constituency past New Hampshire."
As for Rubio, he has a good idea why he's in a fight for third place with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Bush.
"It's on me. It's on me. I did not do well on Saturday night," he told supporters Tuesday night. "But listen to me, that will never happen again."
And though his campaign's "3-2-1 strategy" (third in Iowa, second in N.H. and first in South Carolina) has been slightly thrown off track, he's ready to keep moving forward.
"South Carolina, we are on the way!" he exclaimed.
