Possible "Torpedo" Found Off Knight's Key

MARATHON (CBSMiami) – The U.S. Navy is examining a possible old military device that was found offshore of Knight's Key in Marathon Tuesday.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said they received a call at 9:45 a.m. from a man who said he found a "torpedo" in shallow water.

Sheriff's deputies evacuated campsites around the location for several hours and called out their bomb squad.

A Navy EOD team also responded to the scene and took custody of the device.

At this time, it's still unknown what the device is.
