MIAMI (CBSMiami) - It's National School Choice Week and more than two thousand events will be held statewide to help parents weigh their options for their child's education.

Students in Florida have the option of attending public schools, charter schools, magnet schools, private schools, online academies and home schooling.

The goal of the week is to raise awareness of the different education choices available.

"Florida parents have more choices for their children's education than parents in many other states. National School Choice Week will shine a positive spotlight on these options so that more parents can learn about the opportunities available to their kids, while raising awareness of the benefits of expanding educational opportunities to even more children," said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week in a statement.

Miami-Dade School Superintendent Alberto Carvalho is a fan of school choice, saying "one size fits none."
