MIAMI (CBSMiami) - For the 12th straight season Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade has been selected as an All Star, the most by a Heat player in franchise history.
This will be the tenth time Wade has been selected as a starter for the Eastern Conference All-Stars. He led all Eastern Conference guards with 941,466 votes.
TheThe 65th NBA All-Star Game will be play at the Air Canada Centre on February 14th.
In his previous 10 All-Star appearances (missed 2015 due to injury), he has averaged 17.3 points, 4.8 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 2.50 steals and 25.2 minutes while shooting 64.2 percent from the field. He posted a 24-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist triple-double in the 2012 All-Star Game and hit the game-winning field goal in the 2006 All-Star Game.
Wade has appeared in 40 games (39 starts) this season averaging 18.1 points, 4.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 29.9 minutes while shooting 45.5 percent from the field. He has led the team in points 16 times, in assists 19 times, in steals on 12 occasions and blocks twice.
Wade began the season scoring at least 20 points in five-straight games, the fourth-longest 20-point streak to start a season in his career. He scored 26 points and dished out nine assists on December 7 vs. Washington, pairing with Goran Dragić (20 pts, 9 asts) to become just the third set of teammates to each record at least 20 points and nine assists in the same game.
His victory against New Orleans on December 25 improved his Christmas Day career record to 10-1 (.909), no other player in NBA history owns a higher winning percentage on Christmas Day with at least 10 games played.
The following night in Orlando, Wade connected on a perfect 10-of-10 from the foul line, marking the 11th time in his career he has been perfect from the charity stripe after taking double-figure attempts during a single game.
He then hit his 5,000th career free throw on January 9 at Utah, the most in HEAT franchise history.
Wade has scored 19,537 career points, ranking 44th on the NBA's all-time scoring list. He has moved up 11 spots since the beginning of the season after starting in 55th place, moving past Hall of Famers Isiah Thomas, Chet Walker, Scottie Pippen, Gail Goodrich and Bob Lanier.
