OAKLAND PARK (CBSMiami) – Broward Sheriff's Office detectives believe an Oakland Park residential fire where one man died was an accident.

At around 11 a.m. on Monday, BSO deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to reports of smoke and a residential fire at 3062 S. Oakland Forest Drive.

First responders found the body of 57-year-old Kirby Sellers in a second story bedroom of the townhome.

Detectives said Sellers lived alone, but his friends told them that they had spoken with the victim the previous evening.

BSO homicide detectives' preliminary investigation has revealed no signs of foul play.

No one else was injured by the fire, and no other units in the community of the Pines of Oakland Forrest West were damaged.

The Medical Examiner's Office will determine the victim's cause of death.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating the circumstances that led up to the fire.
