Heat Send Goran Dragic Back To Miami For MRI, Will Miss Remainder Of Road Trip

LOS ANGELES (CBSMiami) – In the midst of their longest and most difficult road trip of the season, the Miami Heat's lineup was dealt a big blow on Wednesday.

Starting point guard Goran Dragic has been sent back to Miami to have an MRI on his strained left calf muscle.

He will miss at least the final three games on the Heat's current road trip, which includes Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers as well as games against the Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Following a rough start to the season, Dragic's play had been picking up in recent weeks.

He has averaged 15 points on 54 percent shooting, including 50 percent on three-pointers, over his last ten games.

Dragic has missed only one game this season.  Starting in his place was Beno Udrih, though at the time Tyler Johnson was also out of the lineup so either of them could end up playing for Dragic.

Udrih is the likely bet to start for Dragic as he plays more often as the backup point guard. Johnson can play either of the two guard spots but often spells Dwyane Wade at shooting guard.

Heat center Hassan Whiteside's status for Wednesday's game against the Clippers is also in doubt.

He missed Miami's last game against the Golden State Warriors with a knee injury and will be a game-time decision against Los Angeles.
