MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Friends of a Florida native found dead in her apartment in Florence, Italy say the 35-year old stayed behind at a nightclub when they left.

Her body was found last weekend.

In a poignant reminder that this is as much a tragedy as a murder mystery, Ashley Olsen's father Walter laid a wreath outside the front door of the building she lived in.

The apartment where her body was found has been sealed by police.

According to Italian media reports and police sources, Olsen was not killed with bare hands.

The actual date and time of death will not be available for weeks.

The apartment was in chaos with a broken glass and a smashed chair. Clothes were strewn about and Olsen was wearing only socks.

Olsen's boyfriend, who found her body, has an alibi, and the landlady who entered the apartment with him said he tried to revive Olsen even though it was obvious she was dead.

A friend who would only give her name as Amy said the murder was incomprehensible.

"I can't imagine a person who would hurt her, she is a gentle, a kind, a beautiful, friendly, lovely girl and it's an awful shock," said Amy.

Olsen was last seen in a nightclub where she stayed on after friends she was with left late last Friday night.

Some seventy-two hours of video from surveillance cameras in the street near Olsen's apartment are being scrutinized in hopes of spotting a credible suspect in the mystery that gets more curious with every piece of new evidence.
