SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) -- The mother of a woman found shot and killed in a Miami street says she's desperate to find her daughter's killer.

"She just had a birthday January 3rd," said a sobbing Regina Jackson.

Her daughter, Vashawn Jackson, 35, was discovered dead Saturday in the middle of the street in front of a home at 10161 Circle Plaza East.

Miami-Dade Police responded to the scene around 7:30 a.m. Saturday. According to detectives, the victim had injuries to her head. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators are now trying to piece together what happened and who was responsible.

"I just ask y'all pray for us. But I know the Lord. He ain't gonna put no more on me than I can bear," said Regina.
