Group Discovers Remains, Revolver In Florida Keys

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- An investigation is underway after a group strolling through a part of the Florida Keys stumbled upon human remains.
Two men and a woman told Florida Keys deputies they stopped to explore a fenced area on Summerland Key at 23801 Overseas Highway on Monday afternoon.
That's when they discovered the skeleton of a human with a stainless steel .38 revolver laying on the ground next to the remains.
Deputies said other items found at the scene appear to be men's clothing.
The remains were turned over to the Medical Examiner's Office who will be working with major crimes detectives. Both will work together to identify the deceased person and find out what led to his or her death.
